Temperature and Humidity

A normal card has an operating and storage range of roughly 32 to 120 degrees Farenheit [0 to 60 Celcius] .  Humidity is rated at 0% to 90%. On a practical level this is a greater range than I would be using any of my devices in. Storage is another issue.

Heat can warp the case of the card so that it wont fit in the devices anymore.  I have had one damaged this way but was able to force it into a cheap card reader and get the data of it. The card was damaged to the point that I could not use it anymore. I had left the card in a black case on top of my motorcycle on a very hot day I basically baked it.

In my experience cold isnt an issue if you handle the card carefully and let it warm up slowly before use.  Im sure cold could damage them but I havent seen that. Like anything else that uses electricity they will warm up when used, so taking an extremely cold card and firing it up cant be good for the life of it.

I dont worry about my cards when its above freezing or under 80 degrees. If the weather gets extreme I keep the cards in my pocket and they stay safe and sound.

There are extreme range and industrial grade cards on the market, I have no experience with these and dont know if one would have survived my heat "experiment" or not.

The black case right behind the riders seat actually got hot enough to warp a card. it was a sunny day about 96 degrees Farenheit.
