Physical Shock Dropping the card.
Physical shock from dropping or stepping on a card can destroy it. The two things that can happen are cracking the case and jarring the components inside loose.
Here is the inside of a card it is a very robust design. The case is heavy and the chips are well mounted. However if they fall far enough or with enough force you can damage them. |
I reviewed the specs for the cards and it looks like they should survive a drop from ten feet or more. The cards are way stronger than the devices they are used in. I handle them the same as I would a camera with an LCD screen and have never broken one.
The cards are a bit more vulnerable when in a reader like these. The weight of the reader will add to the force if dropped. Some extra care may be in order here. |
Common sense will go along way here.
If you dont throw them at someone or drop them off a building they should survive. I have rolled a desk chair over them on a carpeted surface and they still worked I wouldnt reccomend that one.
